10 years ago, We Are Fred started life here in Chelmsford. Today, it’s still our home. 2,000 sq ft of creative space where every project, partnership and idea takes shape.

2,000 sq ft doesn’t sound like much on paper, but it’s enough. Enough for the whole team to work in the same room when it matters. Enough for client meetings that feel personal, not performative. Enough for the late nights before a big pitch and the celebrations when it lands. We’ve never chased bigger for the sake of it. We’ve built a space that works for how we actually operate – collaborative and focused.

Being based in Chelmsford was never a limitation, it’s an advantage. 30 minutes from Liverpool Street puts us firmly in London’s orbit. Close enough for every client meeting, every pitch, every industry event.

But we’re not tied to the capital’s overheads or its noise. We get the best of both worlds: proper access to London’s development and property scene, without losing the clarity that comes from being somewhere quieter. From here, the rest of the country feels just as reachable.

Industrious, unpretentious, quietly ambitious. Chelmsford reflects that same spirit. We know because in 2019, we had the opportunity to brand the city itself.

That project taught us something about place: the best identities come from understanding what’s already there, not imposing something foreign. It’s the same principle that guides every project we deliver, wherever it is in the country.
